Oulton Broad Dragon Boat Festival Cancelled

Oulton Broad Dragon Boat Race

This year’s famous dragon boat race in Oulton Broad has had to be cancelled due to a lack of companies putting themselves forward to enter teams into the event.

The Oulton Broad Dragon Boat Racenormally sees teams racing giant 30ft painted dragon boats over a 200m course – initially at Whitlingham Broad in 2006 before moving to Oulton Broad. In the past, the event has raised money for East Anglian children’s hopsices and St. Elizabeth Hospice, but now it seems that there simply won’t be enough teams present to compete.

The Oulton Broad Dragon Boat Race has also had to postpone itself for this year because it’s in need of a new charity partner, and is actively seeking help from local companies and charities.
